Job summary

Torus Talent represents a Calgary-based heavy civil contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead local roadbuilding and municipal infrastructure projects. You will oversee pre-construction through closeout, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, and clients across the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy civil PM roles, deep knowledge of earthworks and roadworks, and a proven ability to manage projects up to $10M.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Strong experience delivering roadbuilding and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Established experience working within the Calgary construction market.
  • Experience managing civil projects valued up to approximately $10M.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, roadworks, underground utilities, and associated civil construction scopes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage civil construction projects from pre-construction and planning through execution and closeout.
  • Oversee roadbuilding and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and forecasts to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project documentation, contracts, change orders, procurement, and progress reporting.
  • Work closely with operations and field leadership to ensure labour, equipment, and resources are effectively deployed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with municipal clients and other project stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with company standards.

Our client, one of the largest heavy civil contractors in Canada, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Calgary operations team. The successful candidate will oversee local roadbuilding and heavy civil infrastructure projects, joining an established team with a strong pipeline of upcoming work across the Calgary market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage civil construction projects from pre-construction and planning through execution and closeout.
  • Oversee roadbuilding and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and forecasts to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Work closely with operations and field leadership to ensure labour, equipment, and resources are effectively deployed.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Strong experience delivering roadbuilding and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Established experience working within the Calgary construction market.
  • Experience managing civil projects valued up to approximately $10M.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, roadworks, underground utilities, and associated civil construction scopes.
  • Experience delivering projects directly for the City of Calgary would be a strong asset.
  • Ability to independently manage projects with minimal supervision and quickly take ownership of active and upcoming work.
  • Strong communication, leadership, financial management, and organizational skills.
