Garmin Canada is seeking a full-time Project Manager to join the Products Team in Cochrane, Alberta. You will manage scheduling, coordinate tasks, and drive projects to completion across fitness and outdoor product lines, working with engineering disciplines to deliver concepts to market.

The role leverages strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to manage scope, milestones, risks, and stakeholder expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a technical field with at least 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Understanding of production and operations related to engineering project management
• Team oriented with a positive attitude and ability to collaborate
• Excellent time management, organization and follow-up skills

Responsibilities

• Manage medium to large engineering projects, define scope, milestones and decisions
• Identify process improvements and drive project closure
• Maintain project status, documentation, and reporting using established tools
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and manage difficult conversations
• Resolve conflicts and build strong cross-functional relationships
• Lead and participate in productive team meetings
• Ensure stakeholders are informed of scope, schedule, and cost
• Provide mentorship to less experienced project managers
• Collaborate with Team Leader/Mentor to become the single point of contact for project needs

Garmin Canada has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Project Manager to join the Products Team. As a member of our Project Management team, you will provide project management and coordination activities towards the development of Garmin's Fitness and Outdoor Products. You will work directly with all engineering disciplines and be responsible for creating scheduling, coordinating project tasks, and driving projects to completion.

Essential Functions

• Applies project management skills on medium to large engineering projects of average complexity, including understanding, developing and communicating project scope, milestones, and decisions
• Identifies and supports process improvement activities
• Drives projects to closure, applies good judgment in identifying issues and risks, creates mitigation plans with assistance from mentor or direct supervisor
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain clear project status, documentation, and reporting for medium to large projects with established tools
• Demonstrates communication skills, including effective listening, responding appropriately, and managing difficult conversations
• Identifies and resolves conflicts through understanding interdependence and development of effective relationships between the development team(s)
• Demonstrates ability to lead effective and efficient team meetings
• Ensures team members/stakeholders are appropriately informed of project scope, schedule and cost
• Demonstrates project ownership with moderate involvement from Team Leader/Mentor, working towards single point of contact for project needs, moderate contributions to the success of the project
• Provides mentoring and guidance to less experienced Project Managers
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical discipline from a four-year college or university, AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to engineering project management
• Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
• Demonstrates excellent time management, organizational and follow-up skills
• Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Powerpoint) or similar
  

Desired Qualifications

• Experience working with embedded and/or mobile products
• Excitement to create and deliver products for cycling, running, swimming and fitness!
