Description :

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Project Manager to join our NorthwesTel project team in Whitehorse, YT. The Project Manager is responsible for managing a power infrastructure maintenance program across the three territories, Northern BC, and Northern Alberta, ensuring all contract work is completed on or ahead of schedule.

The Project Manager acts as the single point of contact and is accountable to the client for work performance, contract deliverables, staff and subcontractor management, contract amendments, quality control, occupational health and safety, spill response and reporting, emergency response as requested, and financial controls and reporting.

Regular travel is required for this role.

Responsibilities :

  1. Provide leadership and direction to staff for work as defined in contract documents.
  2. Ensure timely submission of all deliverable reports and plans, in correct format, complete and accurate.
  3. Implement a Quality Control Program to monitor and ensure contract service level standards are met consistently.
  4. Actively seek opportunities for organic business growth.
  5. Manage a geographically dispersed workforce at multiple sites, ensuring consistent service delivery according to contract standards.
  6. Maintain records of exceptional performance and out-of-scope services provided to the client, highlighting ATCO's excellent service delivery.
  7. Build and maintain positive relationships with client staff at all levels through regular briefings on project status.
  8. Identify scope changes and coordinate with the client for change orders and proposals to adjust scope and contract fees.
  9. Review and approve all material and project proposals, ensuring estimates are adequate, complete, and well-documented.
  10. Ensure fixed-price work is completed on schedule, complying with contract documents and regulations, satisfying the client.
  11. Review open work orders, repairs, and projects weekly, taking action to complete and close work orders promptly.
  12. Complete the Annual Business Plan, review and analyze monthly variance reports, identify high-cost areas, and implement corrective actions.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  1. Technical School Diploma or University degree from an accredited institution, or a combination of related Trade Certificate and experience.
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP), Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal, BOMA RPA, or FMA certification is an asset.
  3. Minimum years of experience supervising personnel in infrastructure, industrial maintenance, or construction environments.
  4. Experience in project management, estimating, budgeting, planning, and business accounting standards.
  5. Previous experience with emergency response, including hazardous materials containment and cleanup.
  6. Knowledge of Environmental Regulations, Electrical Safety Authority, Occupational Health & Safety, and Ministry of Labour standards.
  7. Experience with fixed and rotary-wing operations and fuel operations.
  8. Experience with power generation systems is an asset.
  9. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  10. Valid Driver's License required.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills. They should be capable of interfacing effectively with clients, officials, subcontractors, and vendors, handling negotiations, approvals, and contractual matters.
