Homes by Avi Group of Companies is seeking an organized and highly detail oriented individual to join our team as a Project Manager.

Homes by Avi has been building homes since 1978 with home building divisions in Calgary, Edmonton and Austin, Texas. Over the past 23 years, our multi-family division has developed over 40 communities and grown its capability as a multi-family developer to include Avi Construction Management - a merchant builder focused on third-party clients needing a professional committed builder to deliver multi-family and mixed-use developments on time and on budget.

Project Manager – Multifamily

Who You Are

  • You are a team player, who works well with your co-workers to ensure expectations are aligned, and your team is prepared for the best outcome when working with external clients and contractors.
  • You are an individual who is self-motivated; detail orientated and works well independently. You can see what tasks need to be done before given direction, and take action to ensure projects are running efficiently.
  • You have a great understanding of multifamily residential construction practices and quality standards, Microsoft Office suite of products and can manage multiple tasks seamlessly.
  • You are an articulate communicator in both your written and verbal correspondence, equally professional and detailed.
  • Individuals with LEAN construction and pull planning experience will be prioritized during the interview process.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure assigned multifamily projects are completed on time, within budget, and to design
  • Producing accurate quantity take offs
  • Create, manage and maintain project cost budgets
  • Drive schedule development
  • Keeping projects on schedule while flagging and communicating potential issues with upper management
  • Value engineering during the design stages
  • Monitor and report on construction progress
  • Review and approve of construction progress draws and sub-trade invoices
  • Review and scrutiny of the project design change directive and change orders
  • Handling statutory lien holdbacks and deficiency holdbacks
  • Budget monitoring and status reporting
  • Quality assurance
  • Property administration

Your Qualifications – The Must Have’s

  • 5-10+ years of Project Management experience
  • Multifamily project management experience
  • Construction estimating knowledge
  • Intermediate level Excel and Microsoft office products.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta building codes, and specifically, concrete construction

Additional Skills – The Nice To Have’s

  • Relevant education in a construction discipline and project management certification.
  • LEAN construction skills
