Job summary

JobsMedia.io is conducting a search for a Project Director to lead the planning, execution and delivery of major mining projects from design through commissioning. You will serve as the central link between engineering and construction teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring timelines, budgets, and the highest quality and safety standards.

The role requires a degree in civil or mining engineering and a minimum of 10 years of project management experience in mining.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil or mining engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of project management experience in mining or related heavy industry.
• Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale projects (budget, schedule, multidisciplinary teams).
• OIQ membership is an asset; bilingual French/English is an asset depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of a mining project (design, procurement, construction, commissioning).
• Manage budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to specifications.
• Liaise with civil/mining engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Produce clear progress reports for management and stakeholders.
• Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams.

You will act as a central point of contact between engineering and construction teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and the highest quality and safety standards.

Main Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of a mining project (design, procurement, construction, commissioning)
• Manage budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and to agreed specifications
• Liaise with civil and mining engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards
• Produce clear progress reports for management and stakeholders stakeholders
• Lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams

Desired Profile

• Degree in civil or mining engineering
• Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, ideally in the mining sector
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale projects (budget, schedule, multidisciplinary teams)
• Good knowledge of applicable mining sector standards (Directive 19, etc.)
• Strong leadership, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills
• Membership in the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) — an asset
• Bilingualism (French/English) — an asset, depending on project needs
