Summary

The Project Manager oversees the control, direction, and progression of contract work. Responsibilities include managing contract time, costs, project performance, and health and safety compliance. The goal is to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

The Project Manager reports directly to the Regional Manager - BC Division and is based at Clearway's Regional Office in Surrey, BC, with frequent site visits across the Lower Mainland.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Foster professional relationships with owners, contract administrators, and design consultants to ensure repeat business.
  • Lead site and project team meetings as the primary contractor contact.
  • Review project background materials and identify additional information needs.
  • Organize and file contract information, assign project numbers, and reflect these in all documentation.
  • Review project estimates, assess risks, and identify assumptions and limitations.
  • Identify key project deliverables and procure materials and subcontractors accordingly.
  • Negotiate to procure materials and services at optimal prices within budget.
  • Prepare purchase orders and subcontract documents using company standards.
  • Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and notices.
  • Review contract specifications for required submittals.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Notify owners of contract changes and prepare estimates for scope modifications.
  • Manage progress payment applications and monitor site progress against estimates.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and consistency.
  • Visit project sites as needed and coordinate with site superintendents.
  • Monitor subcontractor work progress through regular meetings.
  • Manage project completion applications and ensure legal compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trade union agreements and stipulations.
Requirements
  • Engineering Degree (Civil preferred) or Construction Management Degree with relevant experience, especially in sewer and watermain projects.
  • 5-10 years of construction experience.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in English and ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus.
  • Commitment to timing and quality standards.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada; no sponsorship available.
