The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance, Information technology and human resource management. Are you a seasoned project management professional with a passion for delivering impactful technology solutions? The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking a dedicated Project Manager ¿ Information Management and Technology (IMT) to join our team in Yellowknife. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the planning and delivery of small to medium-sized projects that support public service operations across the territory.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Project Management Services, the Project Manager - IMT is responsible for managing IMT projects typically ranging up to $1 million in value, supporting various GNWT departments and Housing NWT. Projects may involve developing and implementing information systems and other technology-based solutions to address complex business needs.

This position involves working closely with stakeholders, clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams. You will manage project scope, schedule, and resources while ensuring quality outcomes within defined cost and time parameters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full project lifecycle for small to medium-sized IMT projects
• Apply GNWT project management methodologies to meet business goals
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and partners to deliver high-quality solutions
• Monitor and control project costs, schedules, risks, and deliverables
• Provide clear documentation and regular status updates to stakeholders
• Identify, assess, and escalate project risks as needed
• Ensure compliance with security and privacy standards and seek expert guidance when appropriate
• Represent client/user needs and help inform team decision-making

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

Completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science, management information systems or business with 2 years of relevant and progressive experience as a member of a project team lead by a seasoned project manager. Knowledge of Project Management practices either formally through certification training or working as a project manager is a requirement. The following equivalencies will be considered:

Completion of a diploma in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Business Administration, or Management) with at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a project environment, including roles that involved direct support to a project manager, and demonstrated knowledge of Project Management principles. This experience can be supplemented by relevant project management certification (such as Project Management Professional, or Prince2 certificates).
