Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a driven Project Manager in Training to join our Construction Team in Ottawa. You will help maintain construction timelines, drive deficiency checklists, and support development of growing Communities.

Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in low-rise construction and proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD. A strong work ethic, clear communication, and safety focus are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in construction, project management or related field is required.
• 2-5 years’ experience in low rise construction in a similar role is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, AutoCAD, and other related management software.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned Project Manager(s) in the production of homes from backfill to closing.
• Manage various stages of production in new home construction.
• Review and maintain working drawings, specifications, scopes, construction details, and sales details.
• Apply On Location Schedule (OLS) and On Location Warranty (OLW) to perform assigned tasks.
• Complete checklists including: Builder Frame Checklist, 1st Handyman, 2nd Handyman, Builder Punchout Checklists, Move-in Ready, Pre Delivery Inspections
• Manage the lot schedule and trade management
• Ensure Caivan’s quality standards and Caivan Performance guidelines are maintained and perform daily quality checks on production homes
• Support the Project Manager(s) with preparation of City Inspections
• Conduct site tours, safety inspections and lead by example to ensure policies, procedures and standards are adhered to
• Report any day-to-day problems on the job site (as they arise) to the Project Manager(s)
• Contribute to overall site cleanup and cleanliness
• Build and maintain relationships with trade partners
• Perform other duties as required

You will Bring

Key Responsibilities

Working Conditions

• The job description implies the performance of repetitive tasks
• The majority of time is spent on construction sites
• PPE is required at all times in field settings (steel toes, hard hat, Hi-Vis)
• Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities
• The position is situated on a busy, high-volume construction site with constant activity, including large machinery
