Job summary

ESS Metron is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead cross-functional initiatives in a manufacturing environment in Ontario. You will define scope, schedules, budgets, and milestones to deliver customer orders on time and on budget.

You will champion a safety-first culture, coordinate engineering, manufacturing, procurement and operations, report progress to leadership, and drive continuous improvements in processes.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects in manufacturing or power distribution context.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage budgets.
  • Strong communication and executive reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, schedules, budgets, and milestones for timely delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and operations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and make decisions on priorities.
  • Serve as main contact for internal teams, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Report project status and milestones to leadership to ensure alignment.
  • Adjust plans/resources as requirements or conditions evolve.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project workflows and processes.

Job description

What you’ll be doing
  • Champion a “Safety First” culture by modeling safe practices and promoting safety awareness across all project teams.
  • Define and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and milestones to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of customer orders.
  • Delegate tasks to appropriate team members and coordinate cross-functional activities across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and operations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; make effective decisions when presented with competing priorities or unforeseen challenges.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments, customers, and stakeholders to ensure all actions remain aligned with project goals.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestone updates to leadership and executives to validate alignment with company objectives.
  • Adjust project plans, resources, and timelines proactively as customer requirements or business conditions evolve.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project workflows, tools, and processes to enhance delivery performance and customer satisfaction.
What you’ll have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, manufacturing, power distribution, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of basic power distribution systems and electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — written, verbal, and executive-level reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing environments.
Physical requirements and work environment
  • Primarily office-based adjoining an active manufacturing facility.
  • Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts.
  • Low to moderate noise level work environment.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
Safety requirements
  • PPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times when visiting the production floor (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
  • Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Organization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
