Job summary

Hydro Tech Inc. is seeking a Hydro Mechanical Project Manager to plan, coordinate, and deliver hydro-electric projects including generator and turbine overhauls, upgrades, maintenance, and commissioning activities.

This role acts as a key integrator among Engineering, Field Services, Quality, Supply Chain, and clients to ensure effective communication and performance tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive project management experience in hydroelectric, power generation, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or construction sectors.
  • Experience managing complex technical projects from award through execution, commissioning, and close-out.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including engineering, field services, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, scope, resources, risks, change orders, and deliverables.
  • Experience working directly with customers and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Monitor project costs, progress, risks, and resource utilization; implement corrective actions as required.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including schedules, cost reports, change logs, and progress reports.
  • Coordinate engineering and design activities related to hydro-mechanical systems.
  • Review project deliverables including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical input and support to ensure constructability and efficient execution.
  • Coordinate with Field Services to support installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in site visits to support safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Facilitate clear communication regarding project scope, progress, risks, and changes.
  • Support client meetings, reporting requirements, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure projects comply with Hydro Tech policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Support compliance with OHSA and applicable U.S. OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action processes.
  • Support cost control, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with change management, contract administration, and financial reporting.

Position Overview

The Hydro Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering hydro-electric projects including generator and turbine overhauls, upgrades, maintenance, and commissioning activities. The role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with Hydro Tech Inc. standards, client requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations.

This role acts as a key integrator between Engineering, Field Services, Quality, Supply Chain, and clients, ensuring effective communication, risk management, and performance tracking throughout the full project lifecycle.

Project Planning & Control
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Monitor project costs, progress, risks, and resource utilization; implement corrective actions as required.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including schedules, cost reports, change logs, and progress reports.
Engineering & Technical Coordination
  • Coordinate engineering and design activities related to hydro-mechanical systems.
  • Review project deliverables including drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical input and support to ensure constructability and efficient execution.
Field & Installation Oversight
  • Coordinate with Field Services to support installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance activities.
  • Participate in site visits as required to support safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
Stakeholder & Client Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Facilitate clear communication regarding project scope, progress, risks, and changes.

Financial & Commercial Management
