Highlights of the job

We are hiring a Project Manager, Electrical Distribution (Full-time Permanent) based in Edmonton, AB. This opportunity is open to both internal and external candidates. EPCOR employees should use their “@epcor.com” email address.

The Project Manager reports to the Manager, Electrical Distribution Project, and is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects within Electrical Distribution. This includes meeting growth demands, fulfilling EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (EDTI) and TELUS agreements, serving new customers, and improving system reliability and safety. The role also involves managing project budgets, securing approvals, and stakeholder communication.

This position may participate in EPCOR’s hybrid work program after 12 months, subject to business needs and eligibility.

Key responsibilities
  • Contribute to the Distribution Projects Business Plan, ensuring alignment with EUI strategies and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Develop and implement an annual portfolio management plan, balancing workloads and optimizing costs.
  • Manage project funding and approval processes, including budget support and documentation for approvals.
  • Create comprehensive project charters with accurate budgets, scope, and methodology documentation.
  • Oversee end-to-end project management, from requirements definition to performance monitoring, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Coordinate construction planning, including IFC target dates and project meetings.
  • Evaluate and select external contractors and consultants, ensuring compliance with procurement and safety standards.
  • Manage regulatory and permitting requirements with external agencies.
  • Conduct site inspections, document safety/environmental issues, and support investigations.
  • Lead project kick-offs, maintain communication, and evaluate work progress, ensuring proper change management.
Qualifications and skills
  • Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering; P. Eng. registration with APEGA or eligibility within 6 months.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical distribution systems; less experience considered at a developmental level.
  • Knowledge of distribution system design, construction, and related regulations is an asset.
  • Experience managing complex utility projects and budgets.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Ivara, MS Project, and other management tools.

This is a professional role typically working Monday to Friday (40 hours/week).
