Equans is seeking a Project Manager for Construction and Energy Efficiency in Toronto. You will lead on-site project management, coordinate commissioning, ensure safety, and drive energy-efficient outcomes across building mechanical systems, while managing budgets and stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities include coordinating regulatory filings, insurance and permits, and delivering high-quality client experiences.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • College diploma in building mechanical systems or equivalent training.
  • Seven years of relevant experience in building mechanical systems, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana).
  • Advanced English written and verbal proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate on-site project management activities including planning, execution and closeout.
  • Coordinate construction and commissioning activities to minimize disruptions to occupants.
  • Support commissioning and startup of modified HVAC systems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and client standards across all project phases.
  • Manage insurance documentation, bonds, permits and filings; handle admin requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Monitor costs, manage budgets and drive cost-control strategies.
  • Oversee QA/QC, maintain project records, and report status to stakeholders.

The incumbent ensures projects are completed in compliance withtechnical requirements, budgets, schedules, quality standards, and performance objectives.In this role, you will work closely with the Energy Project Lead, the PMO team, internal teams,subcontractors, and various stakeholders to ensure project success and deliver a high-quality clientexperience.DescriptionLead and coordinate project management activities on site, including project planning, execution,and closeout, with a daily presence at the project site.Coordinate construction and commissioning activities to minimize disruptions to buildingoccupants and operations while proactively addressing operational requirements throughoutproject execution.Support the commissioning and startup of modified HVAC systems by troubleshooting hydronicand air balancing issues and coordinating effective resolutions with trades and facility teams.Ensure compliance with client Capital Development Standards by integrating technical andregulatory requirements into all phases of project delivery.Lead project start-up activities, including the management of insurance documentation, bonds,permits, regulatory filings, and administrative requirements.Champion a strong health and safety culture by promoting compliance with regulatoryrequirements and industry best practices across all job sites.Oversee job-site mobilization, monitoring, and closeout activities while coordinatingsubcontractors and trades to support efficient project execution.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, facility users, subcontractors,operations personnel, and internal stakeholders.Ensure project execution aligns with approved plans, specifications, and design intent throughclose collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.Apply technical expertise in energy conservation measures to support proper installation,commissioning, and long-term operational performance.Drive continuous improvement by identifying innovative solutions that optimize project budgets,schedules, resources, and technical outcomes.Deliver an exceptional client experience through proactive communication, collaborative problem-solving, and a commitment to project success.Monitor project costs and implement cost-control strategies to maximize value and supportbudget objectives.Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities, including document reviews, approvals,and field inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements.Maintain accurate project records and documentation within clearance;College diploma in building mechanical systems or equivalent training, combined withapproximately seven years of relevant experience in a similar role related to building mechanicalsystems, construction, or infrastructure projects;Training in project management, business administration, or a related field will be considered anasset;Previous experience in project management or project coordination;Experience within the institutional sector an asset;Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or equivalent tools;Have a good understanding of building mechanical systems and their functions, with the ability toprioritize innovative solutions over conventional approaches;Good proficiency with standard computer tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook,
