Job summary

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager for our client, a well-established general contractor delivering institutional and commercial construction across Alberta. Located in Sherwood Park, AB, this full-time role involves in-office work five days a week with site visits as required.

You will manage ICI projects from planning through completion, own budgets and schedules, lead procurement, mentor junior staff, and travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction project management experience.
• Independent management of ICI new-build projects valued at $15M+.
• Ownership of costing, scheduling, procurement and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, cost controls and project management.
• Ability to work independently with strong decision-making.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work from site offices.

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Manager on behalf of our client, an established general contractor delivering institutional and commercial construction projects across Alberta.

Location: Sherwood Park, AB

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 5 days in office, with site visits as required

Responsibilities

• Manage ICI construction projects from planning through completion.
• Take ownership of project budgets, costing, schedules, forecasts, billings, and overall financial performance.
• Coordinate project design, construction activities, schedules, and project priorities.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and ensure key milestones are achieved.
• Lead procurement of subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and other project resources.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks or issues, and implement solutions.
• Lead project teams and provide direction to ensure project targets are achieved.
• Make project-level decisions independently while escalating significant issues when required.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level team members.
• Travel to project sites as required and, when necessary, work from the site office for the duration of a project.

Qualifications

Must-Haves

• 7+ years of construction project management experience.
• Strong ICI / institutional and commercial construction experience, particularly school construction.
• Must have independently managed at least one ICI new-build project valued at $15M+ from start to finish.
• Demonstrated experience with full project ownership, including costing, scheduling, financial management, procurement, and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project management, and cost controls.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions without relying on large support teams or multiple layers of management.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial approach to project delivery.
• Proven ability to lead project teams and mentor developing team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Valid and clean driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work from a site office when required.

Nice-to-Haves

• Construction-related degree or diploma.
• Experience with Procore.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of pull planning techniques.
• Broader institutional construction experience, including senior assisted living or other commercial projects.
