Job summary

Bronswerk Group seeks a Project Manager to lead HVAC-R projects for naval vessels, from design through manufacturing, testing and delivery. You will coordinate with engineering teams, manage budgets and timelines, and serve as the main client contact to ensure project success.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, 6+ years in HVAC design or operations, and strong communication and organizational skills suitable for a multi-site team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 6+ years in HVAC design or operating/maintaining HVAC systems.
  • Member of an Engineering Professional Association.
  • Experience in an engineering-related firm is an asset.
  • Experience in Ship Installations/Refurbishment; good PM software knowledge.
  • Good understanding of project finance and cost control.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills; proficient English.

Responsibilities

  • Manage installation projects ensuring goals, timelines, resources, material and budget are aligned.
  • Develop HVAC designs for ship spaces including supporting calculations.
  • Select system components based on design and calculations.
  • Resolve installation issues, document, cost and apply changes.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables and installations.
  • Monitor progress, earned value, deliverables and acceptance plans against plans.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers and Equipment teams to align with requirements.
  • Lead and support Installation Managers across yards and assist with technical, supply chain and client issues.
  • Act as the primary contact with the customer.

Reporting to the Director PMO, the Project Manager will manage the technical, operational, financial and human resources necessary to meet contractual and company related obligations of the project to ensure profitability.

The Project Manager will actively lead in the execution of the project and interact with the project team and the client to ensure open communications. At Bronswerk, a successful Project Manager is an expert in the HVAC project lifecycle expected to regularly support technical resources.

  • Manage installation projects ensuring goals, timelines, resources, material and budget are aligned.
  • Develop appropriate HVAC designs for the different spaces onboard ships including all supporting calculations.
  • Select appropriate system components based on the design and calculations.
  • Resolves installation issues in a timely manner, ensures that change and requirements are understood, documented, communicated, costed and applied.
  • Responsible for the quality of deliverables and installations.
  • Monitor progress, earned value, deliverables and acceptance plans against plans and mitigate issues when they arise.
  • Monitor time & technical activities of projects and ensure that deliverables meet contract requirements ensuring customer acceptance is achieved.
  • Coordinates supplier’s deliverables with project timelines and ensure quality.
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers and Equipment teams to ensure their deliverables are aligned with the project requirements (design requirements and timelines & budget).
  • Lead and support Installation Managers located in different yards and provide assistance in overcoming technical, supply chain and client issues.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact with the customer.
What sets you apart?
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • 6 years + of experience in HVAC system engineering design or experience operating/maintaining HVAC systems
  • Member of an Engineering Professional Association
  • Relevant experience in engineering-related firm (an asset).
  • Experience in project managing Ship Installations/Refurbishment; good working knowledge of PM software
  • Good knowledge of project finance and cost control
  • PMP certification (an asset)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with strong relational skills (English)
  • Excellent organization skills and capacity to juggle multiple tasks and resources
  • Excellent business acumen for long term development is highly desirable
