Job summary

Flatiron is seeking a Project Manager to lead technically complex construction projects in Canada. You will manage a single project contract from start to finish, overseeing budget, schedules, and personnel while ensuring quality and timely delivery.

You will collaborate with owners, engineers, and field teams to align goals with contract specs, uphold safety programs, and resolve issues efficiently to protect project performance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in construction, engineering or scheduling
  • Experience managing personnel
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License
  • Strong interpersonal and delegation skills
  • Ability to identify and manage project risk
  • Advanced MS Office and Excel skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all project aspects including construction, budget, and cash management
  • Develops and manages project schedule, pay estimates, staffing, and equipment
  • Reviews contracts for completeness and resolves conflicts with owner
  • Coordinates with personnel to update schedule and adjust for changes

  • Builds relationships with owner and internal teams to support plan

Job description

Are you ready to take the lead on technically complex projects that build stronger, more resilient communities? As a Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of driving success, managing a single project contract to ensure seamless execution from start to finish. With your expertise, you will oversee the budget, coordinate project personnel, and maintain a production schedule that guarantees timely delivery and exceptional quality. Collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to align project goals with owner expectations, adhering to contract specifications and upholding the highest standards.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Oversees all aspects of the project, including construction, budget, and cash management, ensuring compliance with the project contract and owner needs.
  • Develops and manages the project schedule, pay estimates, procedures, staffing, and equipment resources for timely and accurate project production.
  • Assesses initial project contracts and documents for completeness, resolving specification, contract conflicts, and scheduling issues with the owner.
  • Coordinates with project personnel to update the construction schedule and adjust for change orders, working with the Area Manager on cost or schedule changes.
  • Creates and presents monthly cost and revenue forecasts and reports to Flatiron leadership.
  • Builds strong internal and external relationships with Flatiron departments and the project owner to support the work plan and payment schedule.
  • Reviews and approves all media news releases related to the project.
  • Acts as the main contact for third-party stakeholders, including landowners, local business owners, and government agencies.
  • Conducts daily and weekly safety checks at the project site to ensure compliance with safety programs, facilitating safety reviews and procedures.
  • Coordinates with the project superintendent to identify staffing and equipment needs for efficient project production.
  • Collaborates with internal legal counsel to resolve project disputes.
  • Leads project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork, obtaining retainages, and resolving any project claims. Conducts project debriefs to review all aspects of the work and completion.
What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction, engineering or scheduling required.
  • Experience in managing personnel required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field highly regarded.
  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong interpersonal skills developed to engage and retain positive working relationships while effectively d elegate task driven responsibilities to project personnel.
  • Proven ability to identify, track and manage project risk.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including advanced skill working in Excel .
