Job Responsibilities
- Estimate package components, including pressure vessels, piping with associated instrumentation and controls, structural steel, and assembly costs.
- Review customer specifications and applicable codes.
- Determine necessary materials and special requirements.
- Liaise and obtain quotes for materials and sub-vendor requirements, considering pricing and delivery timelines.
- Calculate and include costs for NDE and related activities in estimates.
- Incorporate all aspects of costing as per the design basis specified by the applications engineer.
- Prepare and compile proposals for customer presentation.
- Collaborate with GM, Business Development, and Sales for proposal guidance.
- Coordinate with GM and the Director of Sales and Applications regarding vendor data and contractual terms.
- Complete bid pre-qualifications as assigned.
- Monitor and improve estimating tools continuously.
- Participate in developing new estimating tools and procedures.
- Update pricing data regularly in estimating spreadsheets.
- Assist in monitoring shop and office performance to verify estimate accuracy.
- Coordinate project engineering activities as applicable.
- Manage projects to meet client specifications, deadlines, and budgets.
- Requisition major equipment, including RFQ issuance, quote comparison, and vendor selection.
- Review client specifications, noting exceptions and integrating them into the project.
- Coordinate drawings and purchase of long-lead materials to ensure timely shop delivery.
- Review, approve, and sign off drawings to ensure proper design and conflict minimization.
- Manage drawing submittals to fabrication shops and clients.
- Monitor fabrication and construction, resolving any issues.
- Provide start-up support and troubleshooting within the scope of supply.
- Assist team members as needed.
- Plan and monitor project progress to ensure timely completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Communicate project progress to stakeholders and address concerns.
- Generate procurement plans and coordinate with purchasing.
- Facilitate project kick-off meetings with clients and teams.
- Ensure timely project invoicing and compliance with contractual payment terms.
- Manage project change processes, including scope, costs, and schedules.
- Expedite material and buyout procurement from suppliers.
- Coordinate with production to maintain budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Manage execution of shipping, construction, commissioning, start-up, and site activities as applicable.
- Support larger projects as required.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of estimating experience in similar products and organizations.
- Experience with sulfur treatment processes.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes.
Education and Accreditation
- B.Sc. in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent technical diploma with additional project management experience.
