Job description

Dasro is looking for a Project Manager (Pipeline Integrity - NGTL North) for one of its clients in Calgary, AB

Job industry: Utilities and Energy

Description

The Company's Canada Gas business unit is seeking a Project Manager (PM) to join our Canadian Pipeline Integrity team (NGTL North). Reporting to a Manager and Team Lead, you will be accountable for the full lifecycle, capital project delivery—from early feasibility through post-construction close-out for Pipeline Integrity projects across our Canadian assets.

The Canadian Pipeline Integrity Projects team has a great team culture, promotes collaboration, and offers the unique opportunity to execute multiple concurrent projects on a short, fast-paced cycle. We offer an environment to execute projects from start to finish (development to in-service)—a fulfilling way to challenge PMs, gain valuable project experience, establish new operational and commercial relationships, and build on your business acumen.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct feasibility studies and alternative analysis to assess the viability of the project, including technical, financial, and operational aspects, and complete early project development activities
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, to ensure successful project execution in line with the Company's Operating Model (TOMS) and the Project Delivery Standard (PDS)
  • Complete early stakeholder engagements to establish communication channels, set expectations, and ensure their input is incorporated into the project plan
  • Clearly define the project objectives, deliverables, and scope to ensure all stakeholders have a shared understanding of the project objective
  • Establish and understand the project’s Regulatory and Environmental objectives and document expected post-construction commitments
  • Develop formal project governance plans including, but not limited to: project execution plan, communication plan, risk management plan, change management plan, resource plan, procurement plan, safety management plan, and construction management plan
  • Lead and motivate the project team, fostering collaboration and ensuring everyone is aligned with project goals
  • Identify and allocate necessary resources, working with the regional team Lead for regional contractor engagement, Construction Management & Inspection (CM&I) for inspection resources, and Supply Chain for material procurement and reservations
  • Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits and financial resources are used efficiently
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring that all changes are documented, approved, and communicated effectively to stakeholders
  • Actively demonstrate corporate safety culture, lead safety discussions on projects, and support onsite construction activities emphasizing safety and quality
  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring minimal impact on project progress while actively managing associated cost impacts
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and requirements through regular reviews, periodic audits, and turnover documentation tracking
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns
  • Work directly with our integrated Supply Chain team for regional contractor engagement, development of scopes of work, requests for proposals (RFPs), contract-related feedback, and the issuance of associated Release Orders (RO) and Purchase Orders (PO) under the correct contracts for services and materials
  • Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, ensuring that objectives are met and identifying areas for improvement. Prepare formal reports, address ad hoc inquiries, and provide leadership with project updates
  • Address any issues or challenges that arise during the project, coordinating with relevant parties to implement solutions
  • Complete post-construction monitoring activities to ensure regulatory and environmental commitments are adhered to
  • Support multi-year scope development, cost estimation, outage requirements, risk identification, and cost refinement for future projects
  • Participate in continuous improvement by actively providing feedback to the project leadership team, the PMO, and contractors regarding processes, performance, project activities, and deliverables. Lead the implementation of approved continuous improvement changes on your projects
