Job description
You will actively participate in the success of high-end residential renovation projects. The the Production Manager role is to organize, motivate and lead the production staff in a wide range of areas, including planning, leadership, operations, human resources and budgets. The Production Manager is responsible for the combined performance of the production team and for ensuring that everyone knows and reaches their targets. The Production Manager may set the targets and/or receive them from the General Manager. The Production Manager is also responsible for reviewing all estimating and contracts made by the sales department. Summary of Position:
A professional, responsible, well-organized and focused person who represents the company, on site, for all production related items with the customer. Must be physically fit, hardworking and experienced in construction management and be able to work under pressure. Perform the following Tasks, but not limited to: Planning, organizing staff, sub-trades, and suppliers. Give clear, concise directives to all staff, sub-trades and suppliers working on projects. Keep control of schedule, budget and site safety. Evaluate projects consistently to ensure projects are being constructed within the very high standards set by Rusch Design Build and that they will be completed within budget and the timeframe determined.

Duties & responsibilities Include:
Ensure that customers are satisfied and providing referrals.
Ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget, deficiency free.
Provide professional management and supervision to staff and trades.
Give directions and instructions to lead carpenters, laborer's, trades, and suppliers.
Ensure materials are on site for trades and sub-contractors, order or instruct to be ordered in a timely manner.
Coordinate scheduling and details with trades and Lead Carpenters, and the customer.
Work with Lead Carpenters to make sure he will expedite timely completion of work, within budget.
Ensure site safety is a priority, enforce site safety at all times.
Attend most of the weekly meetings with Lead Carpenter and customer for the duration of the project, take notes.
Ensure that Rusch Design Build quality and high standards are always met.
Provide a safe workplace.

Position Requirements
Strong communication, project coordination, organizational and supervisory skills.
Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
Extensive knowledge for rough and finishing carpentry.
Knowledge of a broad range of construction methods and techniques.
Understanding of all trades relevant to the project.
Problem solving ability
Good communication and interaction with the customer throughout the project.
Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Strong computer skills: Builder Trend, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret blue prints accurately.
Commitment to Rusch Design Build and team members.
Be available to attend and contribute to company functions outside normal working hours when required.
Able to perform physically demanding tasks on a daily basis.
Knowledge of basic accounting.
Specific duties
Read and interpret and issue paperwork, including plans and specifications, purchase orders, change orders. Bring questions, any discrepancies, and unusual conditions to the attention of the Management team.
Understand the scope of the work and discuss all requests for additional work with the Lead carpenter, Design Manager and/or Sales Manager.
Review estimates/proposals and provide input to estimator/salesperson and Lead carpenter.
Determine past costs of jobs completed and provide to estimating dept. as a tool for the estimator to use in estimating current projects
Understand Change Order procedure and ensure that all changes are approved with a signed off AIR form before doing the work. Customer, Carpenters, Sales Manager need to be informed of how any changes may affect the schedule.
Attend and participate in Project Review meetings as requested.
Attend and participate in pre-construction meeting with the customer, Design and Sales Manager.
Setup job debrief meeting once project is complete, ensure all relevant staff are in attendance.
Arrange, coordinate building inspections and final inspections.
Assist with the high level schedule of all carpenters and sub-trades, requesting help as needed. Anticipate the need for additional carpenters/labour, so that they can be scheduled in a timely fashion. Keep the Management Team informed of the job status.
Attend and inspect each project at the very least, once per week (Projects directly under the Production Manager to be visited at least a few times per week). Ensure our sites are clean, organized, proper floor protection & dust protection is installed , If not address the person responsible and ensure it is corrected as soon as possible. The same goes for site safety.
Issue PO’s and order materials if needed, in a timely fashion. Plan ahead for timely deliver, and use the vendor’s delivery services when relevant, otherwise get our Mobility employee to pick up or pick up yourself if this is more practical. Only under unusual circumstances shall carpenters pick up materials.
Work closely with the project managers, carpenters, and sub-trades to make sure they are familiar with the project and are provided with the information needed to perform their duties.
Assist with the general schedule of our carpenters, sub-trades and ensure they have a complete scope of work. Walk through the project with them to ensure they know the rules and the project. Review their proposed schedule and compare to ours to ensure they align. Ensure they have a PO number before starting work. Also ensure that they have completed and signed our Sub-contractor agreement and sent us a copy of their liability insurance and WCB compliancy.
You are responsible to review each safety talk, site inspection hazard form and weekly schedule and ensure that they are accurate, in keeping with the overall project goals and timelines.
You are responsible to discuss and rectify any items addressed on the site inspection hazard forms, if there is an item that does not fall under the norm, you are to contact the responsible party and correct.
You will be the problem solver on projects. If it makes sense, doesn’t affect the company, or the customer financially, is moral and ethical – do it.
Ensure that paperwork is prepared and submitted accurately, to the office within a day or two.
Review all project cost sheets and ensure all costs are to the correct project/category and review and assist with monthly WIP reports.
Be responsible for quality on the project. Value added services are encouraged.
Be responsible for keeping the project on schedule. Keep the Management Team informed of any changes or deviations from the schedule.
Be responsible for keeping the project budget, and communicating well with the Management Team regarding any changes, or problems which may arise.
Communicate with the homeowner at least weekly. Host a site meeting and keep notes. Let the homeowner know what has been accomplished over the last week and what they can expect over the next week, along with who will be on site or not.
Projects directly under the Production Manager : You will be the homeowner’s liaison and primary contact throughout the project. Speak knowledgeably and honestly with the client. Provide solutions to their questions. Get help from the Management Team when needed.
Complete paperwork for all requested changes, even those that do not require an exchange of money. Additional Investment Requests (AIRs) are to be filled out, signed and paid for before the work is done.
