LOCATION

Vancouver preferred, with regular travel to exploration projects across Canada and Alaska

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Project Geologist is responsible for the technical execution of exploration and drilling programmes across the company’s North American project portfolio.

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and working closely with the Vice President of Exploration, this position combines geological interpretation, three dimensional modelling, drill programme management, core logging, QAQC, field leadership and target generation.

The Project Geologist will serve as the technical link between the company’s Vancouver based team and its field crews. The position requires someone capable of taking ownership of geological activities during active programmes, making informed decisions as drilling progresses and converting results into updated interpretations and future exploration targets.

The company’s preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Vancouver, allowing them to work closely with the wider technical team between field campaigns. Strong candidates based elsewhere in Canada may also be considered, provided they can work effectively from a home office and travel regularly to Vancouver and the company’s project locations.

During active programmes, the Project Geologist will spend substantial periods at project sites, including remote camps and helicopter supported operations. Between field campaigns, the individual will focus on Leapfrog modelling, data analysis, interpretation, reporting and programme planning.

Strong practical proficiency with Leapfrog Geo is essential. The successful candidate must be able to independently construct, update and interrogate geological models using drilling and exploration data.

ENGAGEMENT OPTIONS

The company is open to considering candidates through either permanent employment or an independent consulting arrangement.

A permanent employee appointment will be considered for an exceptional candidate who demonstrates the technical capability, judgement and cultural alignment required to become a long term member of the technical team.

The company also regularly engages independent consultants to support its exploration programmes. This provides an opportunity for both parties to establish a working relationship through active project delivery before considering permanent employment.

Several members of the current technical team initially joined the company as independent consultants before subsequently moving into permanent positions.

COMPENSATION

For a permanent employee, the anticipated salary is C$140,000 to C$160,000 per year, depending on experience and technical capability.

Employees may also be considered for an annual discretionary bonus. Bonuses are determined each year by the CEO and CFO. There is no fixed target or guaranteed bonus amount.

For an independent consultant, the anticipated rate is C$800 to C$900 per day, depending on experience.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The company is a well financed mineral exploration and project generation business focused on making significant discoveries across North America.

The company operates a substantial portfolio of projects across Canada and Alaska. Many of these programmes are funded through partnerships with major mining companies, allowing the company to retain royalties, equity interests, carried interests and meaningful exposure to future discoveries.

The company’s systematic approach to exploration led to the grassroots discovery of a high grade gold system in Quebec. The project now contains an inferred mineral resource of approximately 2.55 million ounces of gold.

The company combines regional exploration, disciplined data collection, advanced geological interpretation and three dimensional modelling to identify and advance opportunities across underexplored mineral belts.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • A technically strong exploration geologist with at least five years of relevant mineral exploration experience.
  • Advanced practical proficiency with Leapfrog Geo and the ability to independently construct and update three dimensional geological models.
  • Proven experience managing diamond drilling programmes and making geological decisions while drilling is active.
  • Strong core logging skills, including the interpretation of lithology, alteration, mineralisation, veining and structural information.
  • Experience with gold exploration, ideally within Archean greenstone belts and orogenic gold systems.
  • The ability to integrate geological, geochemical, structural, geophysical and drilling information into coherent interpretations and exploration targets.
  • Experience supervising geologists, technicians, drilling contractors and field crews.
  • Strong understanding of sampling procedures, geotechnical data collection, geological databases and exploration QAQC.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with the company’s Vancouver based technical team while remaining capable of operating independently at remote project locations.
  • The judgement, adaptability and resilience required to work effectively at remote and helicopter supported exploration programmes.
  • Registration as a Professional Geoscientist, or eligibility to obtain professional registration within Canada.
  • A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel regularly.
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
  • The company’s preference is for the successful candidate to be based in Vancouver.
  • Candidates based elsewhere in Canada may be considered where their experience and technical capability strongly align with the position.
  • A candidate working remotely must be able to travel regularly to Vancouver for technical meetings, programme planning and team collaboration.
  • Regular travel to the company’s exploration projects across Canada and Alaska will be required.
  • Active programmes may involve substantial periods at remote, camp based and helicopter supported project locations.
  • Field schedules will vary according to programme requirements and may involve extended working days while drilling is active.
  • Between field campaigns, the Project Geologist will focus on geological interpretation, Leapfrog modelling, target generation, reporting and preparation for upcoming programmes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide technical leadership across active exploration and diamond drilling programmes.
  • Manage multiple drill rigs from a geological perspective when required.
  • Monitor drilling progress and make timely geological decisions as new information becomes available.
  • Work with the company’s senior technical team to design drill programmes, establish hole priorities and adjust plans in response to results.
  • Take technical ownership of core shack activities, including logging, photography, sampling, core cutting and geological data collection.
  • Complete and supervise detailed geological logging of lithology, alteration, mineralisation, veining and structural information.
  • Oversee the accurate collection and recording of geotechnical data.
  • Establish and maintain consistent logging, sampling, core handling and data collection procedures.
  • Implement and monitor QAQC protocols, including the appropriate use and review of standards, blanks and duplicates.
  • Maintain accurate sample tracking, chain of custody and assay submission procedures.
  • Ensure drilling, survey, geological, geotechnical and assay information is entered accurately into company databases.
  • Build, maintain and update three dimensional geological models using Leapfrog Geo.
  • Integrate drilling, geological, structural, geochemical, geophysical and assay data into comprehensive geological interpretations.
  • Produce geological maps, sections, plans and other technical materials to support exploration decisions.
  • Use updated geological models and exploration results to generate, assess and prioritise targets.
  • Identify geological uncertainties and recommend additional drilling, mapping, sampling or technical work.
  • Plan and execute exploration programmes that may include drilling, geological mapping, prospecting, surface sampling, geochemical surveys and geophysical programmes.
  • Supervise geologists, geological technicians, core technicians and other field personnel.
  • Coordinate effectively with drilling contractors, aviation providers, camp personnel, consultants and other service providers.
  • Support project logistics, including personnel movements, equipment, supplies and remote camp requirements.
  • Ensure exploration programmes are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with their technical objectives.
  • Provide visible leadership in health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Ensure employees and contractors comply with company policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Contribute to programme proposals, budgets, schedules and scopes of work.
  • Monitor technical progress and programme expenditure against approved plans.
  • Prepare regular technical updates, programme reports, interpretations and recommendations for senior management and project partners.
  • Maintain organised and auditable geological records and project documentation.
  • Mentor junior geologists and technicians while establishing consistent technical standards across field programmes.
  • Continually evaluate geological and operational workflows and identify opportunities to improve data quality, technical effectiveness and programme execution.
