Role and Responsibilities

ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is the world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering department is Canada's largest supplier of space optical sensors used for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and weather forecasting. Our plant is known for its expertise in developing and manufacturing products that meet various industrial analysis needs daily.

By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Québec, you will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. You will oversee and guide the development of instruments in the space and defense domain, ensuring their successful, on-time delivery within budget and in compliance with quality and safety guidelines.

The ideal engineer or scientist has strong reasoning skills, is autonomous, works well in a multidisciplinary team, and has R&D experience in system conception and analysis for space instruments.

  • Interact directly with project managers and clients to understand requirements and iterate as necessary.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of multidisciplinary projects using Agile methodology.
  • Follow up on technical actions and plan short-term schedules.
  • Define effort estimates to meet objectives and monitor progress.
  • Assist in strategic planning, project execution, and cost tracking.
  • Manage requirements, system conception, design, compliance, performance monitoring, and risk management.
  • Document methods, recommend improvements, and implement changes.
  • Prepare and contribute to presentations in English and French for clients and technical teams during reviews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or equivalent, with 12 years of experience as a system leader or senior engineer.
  • Experience in infrared optical instrumentation for space or remote sensing.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to produce clear project documentation and manage product configuration.
  • Experience with operational space procedures and space 2.0 inputs.
  • Proficiency in JIRA, Windchill, MS-Project, and Office suite.
  • Bilingual in English and French, spoken and written.
