Overview
One of our clients, a major player in the oil and gas sector, is seeking a Project Engineer to work in Sherwood Park, AB on a 1-year hybrid contract (Mon, Tue, Thu in office), with potential for extension. This role focuses on coordinating the safe execution of capital maintenance, right-of-way repairs, and operational projects across the Prairie Region.
Responsibilities
- Finalize project design and scope, ensuring compliance with internal standards and risk mitigation.
- Prepare RFPs and evaluate consultant qualifications.
- Lead design reviews and manage change processes.
- Review critical operational plans (e.g., isolation, inspection, and test plans).
- Address safety and operability concerns through sound engineering practices.
- Ensure proper documentation is developed and submitted.
- Approve Alternate Isolation job plans in line with safety policies.
Project Execution
- Contribute to the planning of regional operating and capital projects.
- Identify resource needs and key stakeholders.
- Develop execution schedules aligned with operational outages.
- Manage risk assessments and regulatory applications.
- Lead resource selection and procurement processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant execution.
- Develop job and work plans for successful implementation.
- Ensure quality documentation is maintained and handed over appropriately.
- Confirm constructed assets meet operational and sponsor requirements.
- Oversee project closure in accordance with lifecycle processes.
Scope & Impact
- Design and execute projects to maintain operational reliability and safety.
- Provide technical solutions to maintenance and operational challenges.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Deliver monthly updates on project status to management.
