FED ManuTech is seeking a Project Engineer for a manufacturing company that designs and builds automated industrial equipment for automotive, aerospace, rail, and general manufacturing sectors.

You will own complex projects from concept to delivery, requiring 10+ years of engineering experience, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks), and bilingual French/English. OIQ membership is preferred, and you’ll join a collaborative team in Montreal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in custom equipment design/manufacturing.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Fluent in French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of automated equipment concepts based on customer requirements.
• Oversee mechanical deliverables including approval and manufacturing drawings.
• Review engineering calculations to ensure safety, reliability and performance.
• Manage mechanical design budgets focusing on cost and quality.
• Collaborate with purchasing teams and suppliers to select components.
• Contribute to design standardization and process improvements.
• Support innovation to improve equipment reliability and delivery speed.
• Work directly with customers on complex, customized projects.

I'm currently recruiting a Project Engineer for a manufacturing company specializing in the custom design and manufacturing of automated industrial equipment for industries such as automotive, aerospace, rail, heavy transportation and general manufacturing. This is a key role for an engineer looking to take ownership of complex projects from concept and design through to equipment delivery.

Mission

• Lead the development of automated and integrated equipment concepts based on customer requirements.
• Oversee mechanical deliverables, including approval drawings, manufacturing drawings and process schematics.
• Review and document engineering calculations to ensure equipment safety, reliability and performance.
• Manage mechanical design budgets while optimizing cost and quality.
• Work closely with purchasing teams and suppliers to select appropriate components.
• Contribute to design standardization and process improvements.
• Support innovation initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability and accelerating project delivery.
• Work directly with customers on complex, highly customized projects.

Working Conditions

• Salary starting at $89,000 per year, depending on experience.
• Permanent, full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Your profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally within custom equipment design and manufacturing.
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Strong written and spoken French and English.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or electrical controls is an asset.
• Strong technical problem-solving and project management skills.
• Autonomous, organized and comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
