Job summary

American Iron & Metal (AIM) in Montreal, Canada, is seeking a Project Manager to drive the implementation of new processes and optimize existing production lines. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager and lead cross-functional efforts across mechanical, civil, electrical, and construction disciplines.

The role requires a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering with 2–5 years' experience, bilingual English/French, and familiarity with AutoCAD/SolidWorks.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Experience in industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with electric motors, conveyors, pumps, steel structures, and related systems.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze issues and identify stakeholder needs.
  • Propose solutions and define project requirements.
  • Plan projects and oversee execution, including budgets and schedules.
  • Develop equipment layouts for facilities and coordinate multidisciplinary execution.
  • Prepare drawings, specs, and documentation for procurement and installation.
  • Coordinate supply and installation contracts with suppliers and contractors.
  • Supervise on-site construction and installation with safety compliance.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with contractors and providers.
  • Review and approve project-related invoices.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for contributing to the implementation of new processes as well as the optimization of existing production lines.

What you’re responsible for:
  • Analyze issues and identify stakeholder needs;
  • Propose solutions and define project requirements;
  • Plan projects and oversee their execution, including budgets, schedules, changes, and other project-related activities through final delivery;
  • Develop equipment layouts for new or existing facilities and coordinate multidisciplinary project execution (mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, construction, etc.);
  • Analyze, interpret, and prepare drawings, specifications, and other project documentation for the procurement and installation of equipment and the construction of facilities;
  • Coordinate supply and installation contracts with suppliers and contractors, including engineering, manufacturing, logistics, construction, installation, and commissioning activities;
  • Supervise construction and installation work on-site while ensuring compliance with safety standards;
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with contractors, equipment suppliers, and professional service providers;
  • Review and approve project-related invoices.
To join our team:
  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Experience in industrial equipment maintenance;
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment and facilities, including electric motors, conveyors, pumps, steel structures, and related systems;
  • Experience in a similar industrial environment, such as mining, cement manufacturing, or heavy industry, is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the construction industry;
  • Bilingual in English and French;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks;
  • Responsible and well-organized, with the ability to effectively manage stress;
  • Strong adaptability;
  • Strong customer service skills.
