Job summary

Fluor Corp in Airdrie, Canada is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the coordination of OTSG project execution from engineering through commissioning, within cost and schedule constraints. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, review engineering deliverables, support procurement, participate in P&ID reviews and HAZOP, and contribute to cost estimating and continuous improvement.

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of oil and gas design experience in Canada

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of oil and gas processing equipment or heavy oil facilities in Canada.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Section I, B31.1, B31.3, and CSA B149.3 codes and standards.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15% as required.
  • Experience with OTSG design, EPC/EPCM projects, instrumentation, equipment packaging, or field operations is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, stakeholder interfaces, and change management processes.
  • Support procurement activities, including RFQ development, vendor evaluations, and equipment selection.
  • Participate in P&ID reviews, HAZOP studies, 3D model reviews, and construction planning activities.
  • Review engineering deliverables, vendor documentation, and project drawings to ensure compliance with design requirements.
  • Support field activities, including inspections, commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolution of RFIs and NCRs.
  • Contribute to proposal development, cost estimating, and continuous product improvement initiatives.

Job description

The OTSG Project Engineer lead the coordination of project execution in accordance with client requirements and objectives, within cost and schedule constraints, and in adherence to quality procedures and practices.

Key Responsibilities

The day-to-day activities vary depending on the timing and complexity of the project; however, the typical expected responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design and execution of once-through steam generator (OTSG) projects from engineering through commissioning.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, drafting, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, stakeholder interfaces, and change management processes.
