Job description

Position Summary

This role will provide day-to-day community management of NBA Canada’s social channels (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube), creating localized content, and engaging new, casual, and hardcore fans. The candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends to report on live NBA games. They will also help in preparing social reports on a weekly and monthly basis.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Publish across the NBA Canada social accounts (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube).
  2. Collaborate with the Marketing & Fan Engagement team to develop a complete social content strategy tailored to the Canadian market throughout the season and marquee events and campaigns.
  3. Complete the daily, weekly, and monthly social media content calendar.
  4. Develop social reports on a regular cadence and provide insights based on platform/content trends.
  5. Protect the NBA brand and ensure the voice of the accounts is 100% positive, authentic to the NBA and promotes inclusion.
  6. Collaborate with team members to support social media activations, platforms and campaigns.
  7. Support the rest of the NBA Canada team including sales, partnerships, and finance teams.
  8. Closely monitor all social media activity relating to all things NBA (teams, players and staff).
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
  1. Expert knowledge of NBA and basketball.
  2. Experienced admin user of all major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), and key understanding of what content works for each platform.
  3. Strong coordination skills, able to demonstrate experience managing and handling large scale content plans and schedules.
  4. Strong creative approach, including the ability to consistently develop new ideas.
  5. Good judgment as you will be representing the voice of the NBA.
  6. Grasp of analytics tools and data – understanding the significance of the data, how to respond to it, and achieve important metrics.
  7. Proficient in using photo manipulation software – Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom, Affinity Designer, etc.
  8. Understanding of video editing software – e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  10. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
