The NBA is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace. This is a temporary position with an expected duration not to exceed ten months.

Position Summary

This role will provide day-to-day community management of NBA Canada’s social channels (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube), creating localized content, and engaging new, casual, and hardcore fans. The candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends to report on live NBA games. They will also help in preparing social reports on a weekly and monthly basis.

Major Responsibilities

  • Publish across NBA Canada social accounts (Instagram, Threads, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube).
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Fan Engagement team to develop a social content strategy tailored to the Canadian market throughout the season, including marquee events and campaigns.
  • Complete the daily, weekly, and monthly social media content calendar.
  • Develop social reports regularly and provide insights based on platform and content trends.
  • Protect the NBA brand and ensure the voice of the accounts is positive, authentic, and promotes inclusion.
  • Collaborate with team members to support social media activations, platforms, and campaigns.
  • Support other NBA Canada teams including sales, partnerships, and finance.
  • Closely monitor all social media activity related to NBA teams, players, and staff.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

  • Expert knowledge of NBA and basketball.
  • Experience as an admin user of major social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), with understanding of content strategies for each.
  • Strong coordination skills, with experience managing large-scale content plans and schedules.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop new ideas consistently.
  • Good judgment to represent the NBA’s voice appropriately.
  • Understanding of analytics tools and data to interpret metrics and respond effectively.
  • Proficiency in photo manipulation software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom, or Affinity Designer.
  • Understanding of video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
