Job summary

Pomerleau is seeking a Project Director to play a crucial role in the Civil & Infrastructure division. You will manage large-scale construction projects, build high-performing teams, and ensure project excellence. As a Project Director within Pomerleau’s Civil & Infrastructure division, you will play a key role at the heart of the Structure business unit. You will contribute to the growth of the organization by building high‑performing teams, fostering innovation, and cultivating trust at all levels of the company. Your role will be essential to supporting our ambitious initiatives in meeting and exceeding project objectives, execution excellence, and workforce management.

With your strong expertise in project management and delivery, you will bring strategic vision and recognized professionalism to every client interaction. By managing large‑scale construction and infrastructure projects—ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion—you will excel in overseeing complex, multi‑phase projects while maintaining exemplary operational discipline.

Your collaborative and solutions‑oriented mindset will inspire teams and ensure precise execution of every project. By working closely with cross‑functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, you will ensure the seamless delivery of all projects. As a trusted leader and advisor, you will place objectives, people, and communication at the core of your priorities—redefining construction from concept to completion.

What You Will Do
  • Proactively grow and maintain strong relationships with team members, trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision.
  • Support your project management teams to develop and drive the construction schedule ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met and or exceeded.
  • Put your problem‑solving skills to work and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity.
  • Use your proactive approach to ensure compliance with our first‑class Quality Program.
  • Utilize your experience in trade partner selection and coordination of their activities.
  • Apply your financial management experience to plan, manage and respect project budgets, costs and associated purchasing.
  • Be both a mentor and role model to your project team, providing coaching and guidance to help them advance in their careers.
  • Act as the subject matter expert in risk management, ensuring any associated project risk is minimized.
  • Take pride in compiling and completing company‑wide project reports for executive teams and client groups.
  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the project. Effectively applying the requirements of the project specific safety standards to promote Pomerleau’s HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project.
This Role Could Be For You If You Have
  • 8‑10+ years of experience working on large‑scale construction projects.
  • A University degree/diploma in Engineering or related field.
  • A strong business acumen and knowledge of project management methodologies, financial management, Canadian building codes and associated legislations.
  • Experience in the construction industry with a strong knowledge of project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislations.
  • A proven track record of team leadership and a knack for coaching and mentoring others.
  • A strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues.
  • Previous experience with scheduling software.

  • Willingness to travel and work on projects across the province and outside Quebec.
