Job summary

Northern Employment Solutions Inc. is seeking a Project Cost Accountant to manage monthly budgeting, cost forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple projects in Timmins, ON.

You will collaborate with the project control team to ensure forecasts are followed and costs are tracked accurately. The role requires a degree in finance/engineering, 1–3 years in a similar role, and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookups).

Qualifications

• Degree in administration, finance, or engineering.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• 1–3 years in a similar cost accounting/financial analysis role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, V-LOOKUPs) and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Update and analyze monthly budgets for multiple projects using SAP/JDE data.
• Track actuals and accruals against forecasted budgets.
• Analyze variances between actuals and budget to explain drivers.
• Forecast costs per project and update ETC with the team.
• Prepare presentations for management on cost status each month.
• Support documentation for project overruns and contingency usage.
• Monitor project scope changes and adjust budgets accordingly.
