Job summary

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is seeking a Project Accountant to join a growing construction team in Richmond, BC. You will partner with Project Managers to manage financial performance, focusing on job costing, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.

The role requires 3+ years in construction accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with Jonas/Procore. CPA is an asset. This in-office position emphasizes proactive cost control and clear financial communication with project teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience in construction.
• Experience with job costing, forecasting, and budget management.
• Experience with Jonas and Procore is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Project Managers to monitor and manage project financial performance.
• Prepare and maintain project forecasts, cost-to-complete projections, and budget updates.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, and purchase orders against approved budgets.
• Review and code invoices, subcontractor costs, purchase orders, and other project expenses accurately.
• Investigate variances, identify potential cost overruns, and proactively flag financial risks.
• Work with Project Managers to identify and track change orders and their financial impact.
• Participate in regular project forecasting and cost-to-complete meetings.
• Ensure project budgets, cost codes, and financial information are accurately maintained in Jonas and Procore.
• Review and reconcile project information between Procore and Jonas.
• Assist with progress billings, holdbacks, subcontractor payments, and project-related documentation.
• Prepare accruals, journal entries, and reclassifications as required during month-end.
• Provide Project Managers with timely financial reporting and analysis to support project decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve project accounting, forecasting, and financial processes.
