Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories is seeking a Project Coordinator for Property Remediation & Restoration in Port Hope. This onsite role supports large environmental remediation initiatives across a range of stakeholders and teams, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget alignment.

The successful candidate will apply PM tools and governance, manage contracts and vendors, and report progress to leadership. A relevant degree and 5+ years of project experience are preferred; security clearance eligibility

Our Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) is seeking a Project Coordinator, Property Remediation & Restoration to support the successful delivery of large-scale environmental remediation and restoration projects. What you will be doing!

• Planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling project activities to support the successful delivery of remediation and restoration projects.
• Implementing project management tools, methodologies, and best practices to achieve project objectives.
• Coordinating project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Managing project changes and developing mitigation strategies to address risks and barriers.
• Ensuring project activities incorporate safety, quality, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinating contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal project teams to achieve project goals.
• Supporting contract administration and procurement activities, including managing multiple work packages and interfaces.
• Reporting project progress and providing updates to senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders.
• Collaborating with communications, stakeholder relations, regulatory, and operational teams to support project execution.
• Participating in stakeholder engagement activities and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external partners.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized college or university in project management, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible project experience with a related degree, preferably on large construction and/or remediation projects; or 8 years of progressively responsible project experience without formal post-secondary education.
  • Experience supervising and coordinating the work of contractors, consultant engineers, and vendors during field work and construction oversight activities.
  • Experience with project management software, tools, and systems is considered an asset.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of project management principles, including scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk, procurement, communications, and resource management.
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning, budgeting, contract management, and executive-level reporting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, team-building, and consensus-building skills.
  • Knowledge of remediation, construction, civil infrastructure, construction safety, or nuclear industry projects is considered an asset.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

The CNL Historic Waste Program Management Office and the Port Hope Area Initiative projects are situated on the traditional lands of the Williams Treaties First Nations, specifically the Gunshot Treaty negotiated between the Crown and Mississauga Nation during the 1780s and represented today by the Williams Treaties First Nations. The Mississauga Nations are also signatories to various 18th and 19th century treaties that covered lands in different parts of south-central Ontario.
