Job summary

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories in Port Hope, Ontario, is seeking an Integrated Work Control (IWC) Planner to help ensure work is planned safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, develop JHAs, assemble governing documents, and support hazard controls throughout planning activities, enforcing safety standards on environmental and remediation projects.

Do you enjoy coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, identifying hazards, developing work packages, and contributing to the successful execution of important environmental and remediation projects? What you will be doing!

• Assisting in the development and refinement of Integrated Work Control procedures and associated planning processes.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to review planning documentation and incorporate feedback into work control processes.
• Supporting the finalization, management, and filing of Integrated Work Control documentation.
• Assisting Responsible Managers in determining appropriate planning levels based on work complexity and hazards.
• Coordinating the selection of planning team members, including worker representatives and subject matter experts.
• Assembling governing documents required for work execution, including permits, regulatory requirements, drawings, and specifications.
• Leading the planning and development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for assigned work activities.
• Performing field walkdowns and facilitating planning meetings to identify hazards and support hazard control selection.
• Preparing and maintaining documentation associated with hazard identification and mitigation activities.
• Supporting post-job reviews to gather feedback, capture lessons learned, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements throughout planning activities.
• Executing technical planning work under the guidance of the IWC Lead while supporting safe and effective work execution.
• Other duties assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education

  • A degree from a recognized institution in Safety, Civil Construction, Environmental Studies, or a related field.

• OR

  • A diploma from a recognized institution in Safety, Civil Construction, Environmental Studies, or a related field, combined with relevant experience, training, and/or additional education.

• Experience

  • With a degree, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • With a diploma, three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience supporting work planning, safety, environmental, construction, engineering, or operational projects.
  • Previous experience as an Integrated Work Control Planner or formal training in Integrated Work Control processes is considered an asset

• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills with the ability to prepare, review, and maintain planning and safety documentation.
  • Advanced decision-making, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated personal accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Demonstrated questioning attitude and logical approach to evaluating work activities, hazards, and planning requirements.
  • Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other business software used for planning, documentation, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of safety requirements under provincial and federal legislation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of multidisciplinary environmental, construction, engineering, or operational work activities.
  • Working knowledge of Integrated Work Control processes is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence or equivalent.

• Security Clearance Eligibility Required

  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
    

Working Conditions:

• Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
