Job summary

Major infrastructure contractor in Campbell River, BC, is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support project control, tendering, and construction teams on large civil and hydro projects. Relocation or LOA assistance may be offered to the right candidate.

Responsibilities include cost control, forecasting, payment applications, and cost/schedule change orders; 2–4 years civil construction experience required, with a degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Applied knowledge of Earned Value principles.
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and PMBOK concepts.
• Applied knowledge of cost engineering and cost control.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure construction site.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project costs, forecasting, revenue, and cash flows.
• Maintain project cost and budget using company software, including cost adjustments, quantities, forecast cost to complete, and budget revisions.
• Support subcontractor and service agreement payments.
• Develop and facilitate payment applications to the client.
• Investigate problems and propose solutions/alternatives as appropriate.
• Assemble cost and schedule proposals for change orders.
• Prepare and coordinate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in project decisions regarding cost and scheduling.
• Provide support to Scheduler on an ad hoc basis.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Project Management Team.

Major infrastructure contractor is currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to work on infrastructure projects in Campbell River, Vancouver Island. Salary $90,000 - $110,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for providing project control support to ongoing projects and supporting the company’s estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company’s project control system is properly implemented and utilized. There are multiple full-time positions open to service current and future work in Campbell River, BC. This is an exciting, long-term opportunity to work on large scale, complex civil and hydro infrastructure projects. Company will provide junior to intermediate staff with meaningful career experience and the opportunity to develop personal and career goals in order to foster growth and advancement.

Responsibilities of Project Controls Specialist:

• Develop and maintain project job costs, forecasting, revenue, and cash flows.
• Maintain project level cost and budget utilizing company provided software including identification of cost adjustments, quantities, forecast cost to complete, and budget revisions.
• Support subcontractor and service agreement payments.
• Develop and facilitate payment applications to the client.
• Investigate problems and/or reported incidents; identify and recommend solutions/alternatives as appropriate.
• Assemble cost and schedule proposals for change order work.
• Prepare and coordinate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in project decisions regarding cost and scheduling.
• Provide additional support to Scheduler when needed on an ad hoc basis.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Project Management Team.

Knowledge and Skills of Project Controls Specialist:

• 2-4 years of civil construction experience
• College and/or University degree in related field, OR applicable work experience
• Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles.
• Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles, including experience with concepts of PMBOK.
• Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
• Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
• Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
• Detail oriented and customer focused.
