We are currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join our Toronto office team, working on a variety of large-scale infrastructure projects.

The focus of this role is to provide strong commercial support to project managers, directors, and business administrators in financial management, contract administration, sub-consultant management, and bid support.

The opportunity

  • Assist the Commercial Manager and Project Manager in implementing project-specific cost control processes to ensure project profitability and other commercial goals are met.
  • Assist in budget estimation, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Utilize financial systems to monitor financial performance, project costs, and other key parameters.
  • Track actual costs against budgets, conduct variance analyses, and report on financial performance, responding to queries from project teams.
  • Monitor and manage scope changes, maintain change and risk registers, and prepare fee proposals and contract change orders.
  • Prepare and issue monthly client invoices and monitor accounts receivable.
  • Collect, collate, and review timesheets of project team members.
  • Prepare various monthly client reports.
  • Manage sub-consultant contracts, track costs, and review invoices and payments.

Is this role right for you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering design or construction
  • Knowledge of commercial management and contractual matters preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines; highly organized
  • Strong analytical skills and storytelling ability with data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibilities
  • Ability to operate independently while seeking review and support
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, formulas, VBA macros, PowerQuery, and spreadsheet design
  • Experience with PowerBI for reporting is required
  • Experience with Earned Value Management reporting is preferred
  • Experience with PowerPoint for reporting is desirable
  • Experience with Power Automate and PowerApps is desirable
  • Experience in sub-consultant cost management is preferred
  • French language skills are an asset

Toronto Hiring Range – The estimated base salary range for this role in Toronto is $88,350 to $103,950 per year, depending on experience, education, and skills. Benefits are not included in this range. Salary ranges outside Toronto will differ.
