Project Controls Specialist

Location: Mississauga, ON

This role requires expertise in project controls, cost control methodologies, project financial management, and project planning. The specialist will be responsible for following cost control, planning procedures, templates, and guidelines to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across projects.

Your role within the team:

• Performing and understanding the project cycle according to company procedures and general project control practices.
• Preparing project schedules with best planning practices.
• Controlling project cost accounts, coordinating their opening and closing according to the schedule and project status.
• Providing timely and accurate cost report updates, project cost status/deviations, and issue schedules for internal and external use at the end of each reporting period.
• Advising and proposing solutions to prevent issues that could hinder meeting project objectives; providing recommendations to optimize overall project performance.
• Ensuring proper progress measurement for all projects and portfolios within the P&L throughout the project cycle.
• Contributing to client reporting as per contract requirements.
• Monitoring and controlling work progress against the schedule.
• Presenting updates to team members as required.
• Preparing earned value analysis and progress reports for all project activities; identifying and explaining variances between actual costs, plans, earned values, and forecasts; communicating reasons for variances and identifying problem areas to the Project Manager.
• Supporting the Project Manager in conducting periodic cost risk analyses.
• Performing special assignments, ad hoc reports, and other related duties as needed.
• Contributing to the implementation of ECOSYS on the project.
• Performing accruals analysis monthly.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and scheduling methodologies.
