The selected candidate will be key to support the strategy and execution of the successful development of a project. Reporting to the Project Director, the Project Controls Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading Project Controls deliverables, ensuring all processes and procedures are in place and adhered to, and managing the project controls team.

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

Oversee and lead Project Controls deliverables.

Participate in developing, enhancing, and adhering to project controls processes and procedures.

Develop and lead Project controls processes for assigned projects.

Ensure stakeholders are apprised through reporting and status updates.

Identify and resolve issues, key variances, and develop corrective action planning.

Report to a Project Director.

Create functional team strategy and lead a team of Planners and Cost controllers, conducting performance evaluations.

The ideal candidate:

Post-secondary education (e.g., diploma or degree B.A., B.Sc, B.Eng, B.Com, PMP, AACE) or equivalent relevant industry experience in senior roles within project controls and/or project management, preferably with nuclear experience.

10+ years of relevant project cost and schedule control experience, with 5-10 years leading teams in complex engineering and construction projects environment.

Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.

Effective problem-solving and analytical skills with a results-oriented approach.

Ability to work well with clients and business partners.

Ability to develop, build, and maintain good working relationships while leading a Project Controls team.

Ability to communicate effectively to senior management.

Ability to mentor junior and intermediate staff and work with senior project cost controllers.

Demonstrate problem-solving abilities, including the ability to learn new software as per company standards.

Proficient in MS Office suite of software, especially Microsoft Excel and Power Bi.

Preferably thorough knowledge of Primavera P6.

Good knowledge of PMBOK / PMI project management techniques, including hands-on experience applying them on large projects (e.g., critical path method planning, progress measurement, earned value techniques, analyzing data, and complex project reporting).

Strong knowledge of general project controls policies and procedures.

Strong knowledge of general project controls policies and procedures.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead a team of Project Controls professionals.

Conduct performance evaluations.

Responsible for hiring, goal setting, performance evaluations, career development, disciplinary and promotion actions.

Occasional need for extended hours, often unplanned.
