Job summary

Aecon Civil in Ontario is seeking a Project Controls Coordinator to support ongoing projects, including cost systems setup in SAP and scheduling in P6, reporting, and change management. You will work with project controls and engineering teams on a national-scale radar program, travel to different job sites as needed, with pay range $75,000-$100,000 CAD per year.

The role requires 3-5 years in project controls, a post-secondary engineering background, and proficiency in Excel; security clearance

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in project controls or a related role.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint applications is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented with a customer focus.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Security clearance and background checks required.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to different job sites/offices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to project team for project control activities as required, including estimating, proposal, cost systems (including project setup in SAP and P6), change management, schedule review, project reporting, and related processes.
  • Learn and operate within project-specific contract conditions.
  • Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings, as required.
  • Aid cost control and project accounting groups as required.
  • Other assignments as required by the direct line manager.
  • Develop reporting documentation as required for internal Joint Venture communications.
  • Interface between the project controls team and the engineering/construction team.
  • Support in summarizing project status into effective communication tools (presentations, posters, etc.) for team effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and implement project communications initiatives as identified by the project team.
  • Active involvement in all engineering, procurement, quality, and construction matters for greater understanding of the project status.
  • Assist with coordination of change orders and tracking.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Coordinator will be responsible for providing project controls support to ongoing projects and supporting the project controls teams in the deliverables they are providing.

The Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Program Stage 1 project in Ontario is a major federal initiative led by Defense Construction Canada and implemented by Canada's Department of National Defence, playing a critical role in strengthening national and continental defence. The project includes significant on‑site and off‑site material movement activities, extensive earthworks, deep and shallow foundation construction, structural concrete works, and the delivery of multiple buildings and supporting infrastructure.

As part of this program, Aecon's Civil team is advancing Canada's infrastructure through a strategic partnership with Pomerleau and Stantec. Delivered through a collaborative Integrated Project Delivery model, an Aecon‑led joint venture is responsible for project delivery, supporting one of the most advanced radar systems in North America.

The expected pay range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000 per year.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
