Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Controller to join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton or Calgary. You will oversee project cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting, collaborating with project managers and accountants to keep programs on track.

The role requires a post-secondary degree in accounting/finance with 3+ years in project controls or related fields, strong Excel and Smartsheet skills, and experience in environmental consulting.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, scheduling, or project management support.
• Experience supporting small to large projects and strong Excel/PM reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and performance against baselines.
• Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies between planned and actual performance.
• Support project setup, planning, estimating, and resource forecasting.
• Prepare and maintain project performance reports, dashboards, and status updates.
• Assist with tracking project KPIs.
• Coordinate project review meetings and support governance processes.
• Monitor risks, issues, and changes with escalation when required.
• Review work-in-progress, AR, invoicing status, and project financial health.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountants to update forecasts and implement corrective actions.
• Support budget re-baselining, change management, and project closeout activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational project controls procedures and financial controls.

The Project Controller will join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton or Calgary, supporting the successful delivery of contaminated site projects by overseeing project cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting. The role works closely with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and project teams to ensure projects remain on track and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules.

• Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies between planned and actual performance.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting small to large projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management/reporting tools.
• Familiarity with Smartsheet.
