Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Controller to join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton or Calgary, supporting contaminated site projects by overseeing cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting. You will work closely with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and project teams to ensure projects stay on track with business objectives.

  • Experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, scheduling, or project management support is preferred.
  • Experience supporting small to large projects in environmental consulting is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and performance against approved baselines.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies between planned and actual performance.
  • Support project setup, planning, estimating, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain project performance reports, dashboards, and status updates.
  • Assist with tracking project KPIs.
  • Coordinate project review meetings and support governance processes.
  • Monitor risks, issues, and changes, ensuring escalation when required.
  • Review work‑in‑progress, accounts receivable, invoicing status, and project financial health.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountants to update forecasts and implement corrective actions.
  • Support budget re‑baselining, change management processes, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational project controls procedures and financial controls.

The Project Controller will join the Remediation Program Management team in Edmonton or Calgary, supporting the successful delivery of contaminated site projects by overseeing project cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting. The role works closely with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and project teams to ensure projects remain on track and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary diploma or degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, scheduling, or project management support, preferably in environmental consulting.
  • Experience supporting small to large projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management/reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet.

Compensation

Salary ranges vary by location and are subject to change. Final compensation is based on education, experience, location, and performance.
