Job Description
The role of the Project Controller (Engineering) is to assist with the planning and performance monitoring of Engineering projects, including providing guidance to Engineering Leads / Managers through the implementation of project controls processes, procedures and contracts. The incumbent will track performance weekly and monthly and incorporate earn value analysis, to define both the physical and the economic performance of assigned projects and recommend action to be taken should deviations from the optimal performance be highlighted.
The incumbent will work to ensure that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved. The Project Controller (Engineering) must assist with the implementation and maintenance of the project baseline and project execution plan, inclusive of setting up the project administrative aspects.
Responsibilities
- Perform Project Controls for the Engineering Department as per Project Services Guidelines
- Contribute and participate in Project Services meetings
- Coordinate with site engineers, site controllers and Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of engineering documentation / drawings.
- Prepare project documentation as well as cost and progress throughout the engineering life cycle
- Record and manage the information necessary to generate earned value reports
- Manage and execute the change management process within the Engineering department
- Coordinate internal quality reviews
- Drive the development, adoption and delivery of key engineering systems, processes, practices and Standard Engineering Procedures
- Implement and oversee document control functions; may perform document control tasks
- Oversee the Procurement of engineered systems and major equipment
- Plan, organize, and control engineering activities principally concerned with the flow of work required to realize successful project completion
- Perform technical editing and writing functions
- Identify risk, provide risk mitigation strategies, and escalate issues to the appropriate manager
- Monitor and support the proper use and implementation of the chart of accounts on projects
- Prepare and finalize the close ‐ out reports, including maintaining historical cost and production information in a format as prescribed
Qualifications
Education
Preferred: University degree (business or engineering) in quantity surveying, cost estimating or mining. Additional qualifications and/or certification(s) in project management, contract administration and key performance indicator measurement will be considered an asset.
Work Experience
Required: 1 Year of post-graduate field and/or office-based project accounting, estimating or controls experience related to engineering projects or operational mining environment, with knowledge of project management, construction contracts, reporting and data manipulation
Preferred: 3 Years of post-graduate project accounting, estimating or project controls experience in mining / engineering.
