Job summary

SHW AG is the global leader in the production of CO2‑optimised pumps, engine components for all kinds of powertrains and high‑performance brake discs used by the international automobile industry and the truck and off‑highway segment, such as in agricultural machines, construction machines, stationary engines and wind turbines.

To strengthen our team at our Brampton, Ontario location, we are looking for a Project Buyer.

Job Description
  • Responsible for all purchasing activities related to new program launches and engineering changes
  • Ensure cost, quality, and timing targets are met while supporting APQP milestones and customer program requirements
  • Work cross‑functionally with Program Management, Engineering, Sales, Quality and suppliers
  • Program / Launch Purchasing: Lead sourcing activities for new programs and product launches, Prepare / request / analyze / negotiate supplier quotations (RFQ process), Select suppliers in alignment with project targets (cost, quality, timing), Support make‑or‑buy decisions, Ensure sourcing aligned with customer nomination timing, Prepare necessary documents like NDA / LOI / NL
  • Cost Management: Achieve program cost targets (piece price + tooling), Conduct cost breakdown analysis and benchmarking, Track savings versus budget, Support VA/VE and cost reduction initiatives
  • Supplier Management: Identify and nominate suppliers for new programs, Coordinate supplier APQP activities, Track supplier timing (tooling, PPAP, SOP readiness), Escalate supplier risks impacting launch, Resolve supplier and price issues (eg, tariffs, shipping/ transportation, supplier and location changes, bankruptcy)
  • Tooling & Capex Purchasing: Source tooling and capital equipment, Manage tooling budgets and approvals, Track tooling timing and supplier deliverables, Support tooling validation and PPAP readiness
  • Cross‑functional coordination: Work with Engineering on specifications and changes, Support Program Management during launch reviews, Align with Quality on PPAP and supplier readiness, Support Sales during customer quotation phase, Align with commodity buyers in Europe and China on global sourcing activities
  • Management: Manage purchasing activities for engineering changes (ECR/ECO), Evaluate cost and timing impact, Negotiate supplier change costs
  • Support and attend in project specific customer and supplier workshops
  • Prepare Management presentations and regular reporting including related KPI's
  • Sourcing of indirect material (plant specific)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3–8 years purchasing experience in automotive and/or truck and off‑highway (ToH) industry
  • Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier environment
  • New program launch experience required
  • Experience with APQP / PPAP processes preferred
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
