ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald’s Western Utilities team is growing! If you are a committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

Reporting to the Project Manager or their designate, the Project Administrator assists with overall project performance and status from start to finish, in accordance with schedule and specifications. They participate with the project team to ensure project objectives such as cost, schedule, safety, and quality are met, and assist in keeping the Project Manager well-informed of progress, discrepancies, questions, and any impacts on project plans and schedules.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assist in planning and preparing schedules and monitor progress against established timelines.
  2. Maintain departmental and network databases to ensure records are current and accurate.
  3. Participate in document control, archiving project activities, deliverables, tools, and findings for future projects.
  4. Assist the project team to ensure project objectives, schedule, policies, procedures, and performance standards are met in accordance with company policy and contract specifications.
  5. Participate with the project team to plan construction schedules and milestones, and execute projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with corporate policy.
  6. Assist in tracking, interpreting, analyzing, and reporting on project data.
  7. Maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders, including Black & McDonald team members, vendors, and suppliers, while keeping them informed of relevant information.
  8. Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable HSE legislation, company policies and procedures, contract requirements, and Black & McDonald policies.

EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 1-3 years experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Experience in utilities construction is an asset.
  • Exposure to construction scheduling, planning, blueprint reading, procurement, structural design interpretation, construction practices, labour codes, business processes, and time management.
  • Experience with ERP applications like JD Edwards (Oracle), SAP is an asset; training will be provided.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Willing and able to travel to sites around Calgary and surrounding areas.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

Degree or Diploma in Project Management, Construction Management, or Electrical Technologist is an asset. CSTS Construction Safety Certification is also an asset.
