Our client is a leading real estate developer based in Vaughan, Ontario, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality residential and mixed-use projects across the GTA. Known for their collaborative work environment and commitment to excellence, they are looking to add a Project Accountant to their growing finance team.

About the Role:
As a Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in the financial oversight of multiple real estate development projects. You will be responsible for managing the full accounting cycle and supporting the financial health of projects from pre-development through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full cycle accounting for assigned development projects, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes
• Prepare and analyze monthly project financial statements, budget vs. actuals, and cost reports
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and funding requirements in collaboration with the development and construction teams
• Process invoices, track development costs, and manage project-related payables and receivables
• Assist with preparation of project draws and liaise with lenders as required
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, development, and external consultants to ensure accurate reporting and financial performance

Qualifications:

• 4-5 years of full cycle accounting experience, ideally within real estate development or construction
• Strong understanding of project-based accounting and cost tracking
• Proficient with accounting software (Yardi experience considered an asset)
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
