Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience; construction accounting experience preferred.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and project accounting.
• Knowledge of Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee progress billings, draw requests, and customer invoices.
• Maintain billing schedules and contract values.
• Track unbilled revenue and billing status.
• Process supplier and subcontractor invoices.
• Ensure proper job and cost code allocations.
• Process EFTs, cheque runs, and payment batches.
• Track holdbacks, retainage, and subcontract balances.
• Monitor project costs and reconcile job cost reports to the general ledger.
• Perform month-end accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare project-related reports for management.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.

Role Overview

The Project Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial health of our construction projects from initiation through completion.

This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong understanding of construction finance, who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee progress billings, draw requests, and customer invoices.

Total Rewards

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $77,000-$83,000 per year. In addition to salary, we also offer employer paid benefits, personal days, wellness benefit, and professional development support,

Compensation is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, total years of experience, industry experience, education, and professional designations. We recognize that exceptional talent doesn’t always fit neatly into a bracket. Final compensation will be tailored to your specific experience, skills and the unique value you bring to the table. If your qualifications exceed the scope of this role, we may be open to adjusting the mandate, and the salary, to reflect that expertise.
