Job summary

CarePros Edmonton seeks a PDD Program Supervisor to lead on the floor, delivering hands-on care to adults with developmental disabilities, complex mental health needs, addictions, and diverse behavioural profiles. You will mentor CSWs, set the tone and energy of the home, and model best practices in safety, dignity, and person-centered care.

You will actively support individuals, build trusting relationships, and promote skill development, inclusion, and community involvement while collaborating

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Community Rehabilitation, or related field (required).
  • 3+ years verifiable experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in home-based or community settings (required).
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in front-line care (required).
  • 2+ years of direct experience working with PDD and complex behaviour profiles (required).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, trauma-informed care for persons served on the floor.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of CSWs; set and maintain high standards of care.
  • Support scheduling, staffing, and day-to-day program operations.

Job description

The PDD Program Supervisor role isn’t a sit-back-and-manage role. This is for someone who leads from the floor, not the sidelines.

The Role

At CarePros, our Program Supervisors don’t just oversee care, they deliver it, model it, and elevate it.

You’ll work directly with with adults with developmental disabilities, complex mental health needs, addictions, and diverse behavioural profiles while mentoring a team of Community Support Workers (CSWs). You’ll set the tone, the standard, and the energy of the home.

This is a leadership role grounded in action, not observation. By fostering a sense of belonging in both home and community settings, you will support individuals to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.

Leading by example, you will actively support individuals, build trusting relationships, and set a gold standard of high quality care for your CSWs. Your mentorship will empower team members to promote skill development, enhance social/personal growth, and create opportunities for meaningful community involvement. Through individualized coaching and purposeful routines, you and your teams will encourage inclusion, support engagement, and help individuals become active members of their communities. Your work is grounded in harm reduction, strengths-based practice, and respect for everyone's unique abilities, communication styles, and goals.

Schedule
  • Full-time, permanent, In Ratio Rotation (working directly on the floor with the individual)
  • In Ratio Rotation: 6 days on, 3 days off
  • Days: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Scheduled 1 week as part of a On-call rotation with all other supervisors (approx. 12 week rotation)

What You’ll Do
On the Floor
  • Provide direct, trauma-informed care for persons served
  • Build trust through consistency, engagement, and genuine connection
  • Support youth through crisis using de-escalation and intervention strategies
  • Create meaningful moments, play, teach, guide, and support daily routines
  • Document observations and progress with accuracy and care
Leadership & Operations
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of CSWs
  • Set and maintain high standards of care through role modelling
  • Support scheduling, staffing, and day-to-day program operations
  • Collaborate with internal teams (People & Culture, Finance, Communications)
  • Partner with families, caregivers, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure safety, compliance, and program consistency
  • Participate in on-call support rotation
Your Day to Day
  • Manage and support CSWs to ensure high quality service delivery
  • Coordinate work allocation and delegate tasks to ensure fluidity of program maintenance
  • Assign/coordinate referrals to ensure clients are connected with appropriate services, supports, and community resources
  • Identify and address CSW training needs
  • Ensure program meets compliance requirements with organizational policies, procedures, values, and best practices
  • Recommend program developments to your Senior Program Supervisor and Management in addition to participating in program evaluation
  • Run periodic team meetings to support communication, consistency, and collaboration
  • Effectively advocate for individuals receiving services
  • Represent CarePros in the community and when interacting with government agencies, families/caregivers, and funding bodies
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, agencies, and organizations to enhance program quality and outcomes
  • Ensure required inspections are completed with follow-up action so your program adheres to standards and procedures
  • Work with your Facilities team to ensure program facilities/equipment meet operational requirements
What You Bring to The Table
  • Diploma or Degree in Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Community Rehabilitation, or related field (required)
  • 3+ years verifiable experience working with persons with developmental disabilities in home-based or community support settings (required)
  • 2+ years of proven supervisory experience in front-line care
  • 2+ years of direct experience working with PDD and complex behaviour profiles
  • In-depth knowledge of harm reduction practice, disability support, CARF ECS, Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) standards, and Community Disability Services (CDS) sector guidelines
  • Hands-on experience supporting individuals with complex needs
  • Unmatched verbal/written communication, technology, and documentation skills
Compliance Regulated Requirements
  • Own a reliable 4-door vehicle to transport individual(s) in care
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License
  • Clear Alberta 3-year Driver's Abstract (3 years driving experience not required)
  • Current Standard/Intermediate First Aid with CPR Level C (Canadian Provider in person or blended)
  • $2 Million Alberta Auto Insurance Liability coverage
  • Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check (obtained in last 5 months)
  • Clear Intervention Record Check (obtained in last 5 months)
Regulated Physical Requirements
  • Walk and stand for extended periods, including long distances
  • Bend, kneel, crouch, and maintain balance
  • Work in varied environments, including outdoor and seasonal conditions
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds occasionally; reach overhead and outward
  • Perform fine motor tasks (typing, grasping, holding) and repetitive movements
  • Communicate verbally and maintain physical stamina for short and long durations
