Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Theatre and Performing Arts, the Program and Production Associate provides support to student theatrical and performing arts programming and opportunities in alignment with the department's strategic goals and Hart House’s overall strategic plan.

The position is responsible for providing primary support to Hart House Music Groups and the Hart House U of T Festival of Music. It is also responsible for supporting theatrical activities and events, including, but not limited to, student and volunteer engagement, client service, educational initiatives such as workshops, competitions, classes, panels, and performance showcase opportunities.

The position navigates, facilitates, and supports Hart House’s student Governance, Clubs, Committees, and registered activities structures. It’s expected to work with students in curricular, extracurricular, and/or co-curricular settings to advance the department’s contribution to Student Life. This position advises and supports student groups, clubs, and societies.

The Program and Production Associate is responsible for administrative and financial duties within the departmentand is expected to use event management skills and experience to determine and implement logistical program requirements to the tiniest detail.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supports program and leadership by determininglogistical details and activities for events and/or programs
• Supports projects and departmental strategic initiatives with all required stakeholders
• Implements theater production activities according to plans and schedules
• Responsible for keeping well-informed on theater production activities, schedules, and rental agreements
• Supports communications by developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
• Advising student-led groups on the development of clubs and societies
• Advises student-led on the interpretation of rules and regulations regarding the use of space and organizing events on campus
• Provides administrative support to the department by liaising with internal contacts to ensure consistent administration of embedded student support services

Essential Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Arts Administration or Theatre Studies, or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum two years of experience in a Theatrical and/or Performing Arts environment.
• 2 years of demonstrated experience working with and/or guiding students and student groups in a programming capacity.
• Proven experience in coordinating events, scheduling, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience in determining logistical details and activities for events and programming (e.g. music events, including concerts, festivals, and performances).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using administrative software and tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other department members, and external contacts.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusiveness in all work responsibilities and in collaborative workplace practices.

Assets (Nonessential):

• Experience in a University/College Theatre Venue/Production company is an asset.
• Stage Management and event management experience is an asset.
• Experience working with Music and Music performance groups is an asset.
