Elevare Career Institute is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Instructor to join our team in Kelowna, BC. Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of Healthcare Program Coordinator, deliver 20 to 40 hours of instruction per week, focusing on practical and theoretical aspects of the HCA program
  • Follow lesson plans that adhere to the program curriculum
  • Evaluate and assess student learning to ensure comprehension and application of the course material
  • Monitor student progress and performance in both classroom and practice education sites, provide support as required
  • Supervise students during practice education placements to ensure quality and safety
  • Maintain open communication with placement site supervisors and mentors for student progress monitoring
  • Conduct and complete comprehensive student evaluations in both classroom and practice education sites
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with the Lead Instructor to ensure cohesive program delivery
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to teaching, such as organizing supplemental materials or scheduling lab sessions

Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted full registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (e.g., completion of Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations and student course evaluations)
  • Two or more years (3 to 5 preferred) of full-time Canadian nursing experience (1 year = 1400 work hours) with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings. Nursing work experience to include working with older adults with complex health needs, home support, and multi-level/complex care
  • Effective communication and organizational capabilities
