Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful incumbent will:
- Manage the confidential process for new program development of all credentials providing guidance, direction, support, and resources to academic administration, the program development team, Office of Research Services, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ORSIE), and senior administration as per the college’s New Program Development & Approval policy and procedure.
- Develop the five-year new program development plan in collaboration with the Executive Deans of the academic schools, the Vice President, Academic and Students (VPA&S), the Dean, Teaching, Learning, and Academic Quality, the Director, Academic Quality, the Director, Institutional Research & Planning, and Manager, Program Development.
- Develop documentation, original consent and consent renewal submissions, summaries and reports required for presentation and/or approval of new programs including internal bodies (Program Proposal Review Committee (PPRC), VPA&S, Board of Governors (BOG)) and external quality assurance and approval bodies (Credential Validation Service (CVS), Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB), Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCU)).
- Ensure proposed programs are compliant with college policies and procedures, the college Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA), Business Plan, Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, Ministry qualifications framework, Ministry and institutional initiatives, CVS requirements, PEQAB standards and benchmarks, and MCU funding.
- Prepare, document, facilitate and track all program approvals including program funding approvals and supplemental reports required for continued program consent. Ensure compliance with storage according to records retention management (RIM) policies and procedures.
- Manage the support of curriculum development through the college’s new program development and program review processes across all credential levels and in all aspects of course outline development including ensuring the constructive alignment of program and course learning outcomes, learning activities, and assessments, compliance with institutional and MCU guidelines and priorities, instructional design issues, quality standards, online standards, and adherence to applicable college policies and procedures and practices. Works with Quality Assurance team through program cancelation and suspension processes.
- Supports capacity building with faculty, subject matter experts (SMEs), members of CTL, and other stakeholders as required, in curriculum and instructional design issues including flexible delivery (including face-to-face, online and hybrid) and assessment methods through individual, team-based consultation, and workshop facilitation.
- Manages timelines and competing priorities to ensure outcomes are met. Supports and collaborates with the Director, Teaching and Learning through the application of instructional design principles and quality assurance measures for online and hybrid course development as required.
- Assign tasks to faculty and follows up with Associate Deans and Executive Deans as needed.
- Facilitates the development and implementation of the curriculum mapping processes including, recording evidence of the assessment of program and course learning outcomes and essential employability skills, within established timelines.
- Facilitates continuous improvement practices for curriculum mapping in consultation with internal stakeholders and a review of external best practices.
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal College staff and with external organizations or government agencies (CVS, PEQAB, MCU).
- Provides ongoing input into Academic policies relating to program and curriculum development. Contributes to the CTL publications and faculty resources ensuring that communications regarding new program development and curriculum resources on all internal documents and electronic website are current and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with storage according to records retention management (RIM) policies and procedures.
- Participate as a member of various internal and external committees upon request.
- Analyze, proofreads and edits program review written reports and documents for both completeness and accuracy of conclusions drawn as well as for grammatical and typographic errors.
- Maintain currency in the field of program development, curriculum development and instructional design.
- Share expertise and new knowledge with the college community upon request.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Masters degree in Education with focus on post-secondary institutions or equivalent, and subject expertise in program and course curriculum design.
