Job Description
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing and delivering recreational and wellness programs for seniors, coordinating with community partners, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for participants. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, assessing participant needs, planning activities, managing volunteers, and collaborating on marketing and fundraising efforts.
Responsibilities
- Respond to participant inquiries and referrals from social service organizations promptly.
- Communicate with participants and collaborate with external partners to provide programs meeting the five domains of well-being.
- Follow the APIE process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs.
- Provide leisure education and psychosocial support to participants and families.
- Coordinate daily operations and program delivery for SALC.
- Assist in developing program goals, policies, and procedures.
- Create monthly calendars in collaboration with community partners and participants.
- Document attendance and program metrics accurately, complying with funding and evaluation requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage program budgets, scheduling, and data alongside the Manager of Community Programs.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in staff and volunteer orientation and ongoing education.
- Maintain professional communication with community stakeholders.
- Participate in marketing, promotional activities, and fundraising collaborations.
- Develop tenant communication materials, newsletters, and event calendars.
- Attend tenant council and engagement meetings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned, upholding Perley Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in recreational programming for seniors.
- Experience managing volunteers and working in not-for-profit settings preferred.
- Experience with community services or hospital settings is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a good attendance record.
- Proficiency in English; second language is an asset.
