Program Coordinator – Senior Active Living Centre

Job Description

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for managing and delivering recreational and wellness programs for seniors, coordinating with community partners, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for participants. Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, assessing participant needs, planning activities, managing volunteers, and collaborating on marketing and fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities
  1. Respond to participant inquiries and referrals from social service organizations promptly.
  2. Communicate with participants and collaborate with external partners to provide programs meeting the five domains of well-being.
  3. Follow the APIE process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs.
  4. Provide leisure education and psychosocial support to participants and families.
  5. Coordinate daily operations and program delivery for SALC.
  6. Assist in developing program goals, policies, and procedures.
  7. Create monthly calendars in collaboration with community partners and participants.
  8. Document attendance and program metrics accurately, complying with funding and evaluation requirements.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  10. Manage program budgets, scheduling, and data alongside the Manager of Community Programs.
  11. Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  12. Participate in staff and volunteer orientation and ongoing education.
  13. Maintain professional communication with community stakeholders.
  14. Participate in marketing, promotional activities, and fundraising collaborations.
  15. Develop tenant communication materials, newsletters, and event calendars.
  16. Attend tenant council and engagement meetings.
  17. Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned, upholding Perley Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in recreational programming for seniors.
  • Experience managing volunteers and working in not-for-profit settings preferred.
  • Experience with community services or hospital settings is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with a good attendance record.
  • Proficiency in English; second language is an asset.
