Job Responsibilities and Requirements
- Receive and respond to participant inquiries and referrals from social service organizations and other sources promptly.
- Communicate with participants and collaborate with external partners to deliver programs that promote the five domains of participant well-being.
- Follow the APIE process (Assess, Plan, Implement, Evaluate) to develop and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs within the SALC program.
- Develop and manage the program schedule.
- Provide leisure education and psychosocial support to participants and their families.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the continuum of care for seniors' health.
- Coordinate daily operations and program delivery for SALC.
- Assist in developing program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Create monthly calendars through collaboration with community partners and participant interests.
- Document attendance and program data accurately, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and best practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance participant wellness and service quality.
- Oversee and manage recreation programs, including budgeting, scheduling, and data evaluation, in collaboration with the Manager of Community Programs.
- Work with the finance department to manage tenant financial processes.
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
- Adhere to PHIPA principles to ensure privacy and confidentiality.
- Regularly meet with the Manager of Community Programs.
- Engage in ongoing education to stay current with best practices and industry standards.
- Maintain professional communication with community partners and stakeholders.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and analyze program statistics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Uphold the policies and procedures of Perley Health.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop and implement promotional strategies for SALC.
- Update promotional materials and attend meetings to support branding efforts.
- Partner with the Perley Health Foundation on fundraising initiatives.
- Develop engagement strategies with stakeholders to promote tenant involvement and reduce social isolation.
- Assist tenants in fulfilling their obligations, such as rent payments and maintaining their units.
- Explore and secure funding opportunities to support holistic senior care.
- Create regular communications, newsletters, and event calendars for tenants.
- Participate in Tenant Council and engagement committees to foster community involvement.
- Qualifications include post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field, with a focus on health and wellness in aging.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in recreational programming for adults and seniors, with assets in day program or fitness experience.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, interviewing, and management.
- Experience in not-for-profit settings and community services or hospital environments is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience working with seniors and at-risk populations is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills, and a strong attendance record.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; fluency in a second language is an asset.
