The District of Saanich seeks a Program Assistant dedicated to engaging youth and planning activities at various program sites. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys working with youth, and embodies motivations to enhance their creativity and talents, while ensuring safety and enjoyment during programs.
The District of Saanich Youth Services operates three stand-alone youth centres within its recreation centre settings. Staff are responsible for planning and overseeing registered and drop-in programs for youth in the community. As a Program Assistant, you will lead and engage youth in activities that inspire talents, ignite creativity, and champion interests. You will work cooperatively with youth, families, coworkers, and supervisors to ensure enjoyment and safety by maintaining the program site and implementing safe, organized activities.
Requirements include:
Ideal candidates will have experience working with youth, demonstrate customer service and interpersonal skills, and be able to maintain enthusiasm and motivation. Experience with children and youth with diverse interests, needs, and neurodiversity is an asset. The role involves working varying shifts including weekends, after school, and evenings, with a minimum of 3 hours per week. Shift hours and locations vary based on program registration.
